Lunch was great as it
always is at Pizza Jerks. After lunch, we got back in the cars,
and headed for The Great Escape. We got there at around 1:00, and
quickly encountered problem number two. My mother managed to lock
her keys in the Caravan. Since I was driving my Maxima, I didn't
have my keys for the Caravan with me. Luckily, I did have my auto
club card with me. Thanks Autovantage Gold for saving us.
They had a locksmith there in under an hour, he got the door open with
no problems, it was completely covered by the auto club, and mom was in
the park by 2:00.
One would think that was plenty enough trouble for one day,
but there was more left in the cards for us. Shortly after my
mother got back in the park, Krystal was stung by an angry yellow jacket
that had managed to get inside her pant leg for problem number three of
the day.
Since I have had allergic reactions to bee stings in the
past, we decided not to take any chances, and I took her to the first
aid station. In the meantime, my wife was headed back to the
parking lot to get Benadryl cream, and to lock up the Maxima, which I
had left open for my mother, but forgot to tell her to lock it up.
During the Chaos, I thought that my mother was keeping an eye on
Krystals friends Amber and Valeria. I was wrong. When
Krystal and I came out of the First Aid station, I instantly realized
that my mother only had Amber with her. I asked where Valeria was,
and she didn't know. At this point, I've calmly handled everything
that has come my way, but I must admit that I felt a bit of panic
setting in at the prospect of having lost one of the kids.
Thankfully, it only took a few minutes to locate her, on the Blizzard
with Kaelee, and her friend Kathryn. With four near tragedies
nicely handled, I felt as though we were due for clear sailing. I
was WRONG.
It wasn't too long after we found Valeria that Kaelee and
Kathryn retuned to the group from adventuring alone much sooner than I
expected them. I KNEW there was a reason for it, and I didn't
think it would be good. It turned out that Kathryn had lost her
brand new cell phone. |
