I have two children
in school now, one in 11th grade, and the other in 7th. A couple of
times, I remember my kids telling me that their teachers had told them a
story about balancing eggs on their end. According to the story,
you can balance an egg on end, but only during the equinox. I
thought about it for a minute or two, I remember being taught the same
thing when I was in school, but it just didn't make sense to me. I
couldn't understand why it would work on the equinox, and not at other
times of the year.
It was January 1st, 2005 when I decided to prove that
the whole thing was a lie. The pictures below were all taken that
day. This pretty much proves that you can balance an egg on it's
end any day of the year, not just on the equinox. The pictures
have not been staged, faked, or photoshopped in any way, and if you
don't believe me, take a few minutes and try it yourself on any day of
the year. With a little patience, I guarantee it will work.
I'm pointing this out because we see and hear a lot of
information. We get it from teachers, preachers, journalists,
politicians, friends, relatives, the internet; literally hundreds of
different sources. The sad thing is that many of us don't question
ANY of the information that we take in, we just assume that it is
correct. We've lost our ability to question things, and find
answers for ourselves. Any one of the teachers that have passed
this story on to my kids could have questioned the validity of the
information, and performed the same simple test that I did to prove that
an egg balancing on end has NOTHING to do with the equinox, but instead,
they passed the false story on to my kids, and presented it to them as
fact. It took me a good bit of convincing to prove to my kids that
the teachers were wrong
How many emails do you get every week claiming that
Bill Gates is going to give you money, or a special fairy will show up
on your desktop when you forward the email to a million people, Diet
Coke will kill you, the list goes on and on, because no one takes the
time to check any of it out.
My challenge to everyone that reads this is to USE YOUR
MIND. REALLY think critically about things, and if they don't make
sense to you, do some research, and find the truth before you pass the
information along. You'll feel much better about passing along
verified correct information, instead of passing along all the rubbish
that comes your way!
