The Window Page 2

On Wednesday, April 11th, I called Auto Zone in the afternoon, and found out that the regulator had come in.  After Krystal got out of school, I took her with me, and we picked up the regulator.  Krystal is in the process of getting braces, and her teeth are hurting her.  On the way home from Auto Zone, we stopped at Wendys in Wappingers Falls, and Krystal had a Frostee and some French Fries for supper.
Thursday April 12th, Krystal stayed home from school because she had an appointment to get the temporary spacers removed from her teeth, and have the braces put in.  When I got home from work in the morning, we got the regulator out of my van, and the old window motor out of the trunk of the Maxima, and set to putting them together.  It didn't take long to realize that there was a problem.  One of the three bolt holes in the new regulator didn't match up properly with the hole in the motor flange.  It was very close to being in the right spot, but off by just enough that the bolt wouldn't go straight into the motor flange.  Instead it entered the flange at a bit of an angle, which prevented the thread from engaging properly.  Since the miss-alignment was only minimal, I decided to use a high speed cutter on my Dremel to just slightly elongate the hole in the regulator.  A few minutes work with the Dremel had the hole enlarged enough for the bolt to go in properly.
I then had Krystal apply a couple of drops of thread lock to the bolt, install it, and tighten it up.  She then repeated the process on the other two bolts.  I followed behind her just to make sure that the bolts were tight enough.
Because it was raining out Thursday when we did this work, and we were still waiting for the window switches I bought off ebay to arrive, we packed the motor and regulator back up in the box the regulator came in, and sat it aside in hopes that the switches would arrive in time for us to finish the job on Saturday.
